DOG FOODS, PART 1
Good nutrition is a necessary requirement in your Boston Terrier’s life. Providing your dog with the proper diet is one of the most important aspects of caring for him. By carefully researching which diet is the best one, you can ensure his good health, which will affect all other parts of your life together.
In order to stay healthy, there are six essential nutrients that all dogs in every stage of life need in varied amounts: protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and water.
Protein
Protein can be burned as calories and stored as fat and helps with muscle growth, tissue repair, blood clotting, and immunity functions. Good sources of protein are meat, fish, poultry, milk, cheese, yogurt, fishmeal, and eggs.
Fat
Fat supplies the energy needed for the absorption of certain vitamins, provides insulation from cold, and makes food tastier. Fat can be found in meat and meat by-products and vegetable oils, such as safflower, olive, corn, or soybean.
Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates provide energy and keep intestines functioning smoothly. Complex carbohydrates are fiber and sugar and can be found in corn, oats, wheat, rice, and barley.
